The Maldives, glittering from phosphorescent bacteria:

Phosphorescence is a specific type of photoluminescence related to fluorescence. Unlike fluorescence, a phosphorescent material does not immediately re-emit the radiation it absorbs. The slower time scales of the re-emission are associated with "forbidden" energy state transitions in quantum mechanics. As these transitions occur very slowly in certain materials, absorbed radiation may be re-emitted at a lower intensity for up to several hours after the original excitation.

This activity is reminiscent of the bacteria which provide light for the well-known luminescent organs of fish living in the greatest depths of the oceans, . . . an environment inimical to the multiplication of the more familiar bacterial species. Presumably animal tissues are able to provide a substrate which fuels the bioluminescent reaction at low temperatures.

To all Facebook & Twitter fans

"Give your Business the Boost it deserves with more followers & facebook fans"

1- If this is the way business is running today, all Fb or Twtt accounts having 5000+ followers should be making a lot of revenues. (accounts not having any artistic, political, educational, cultural .. affiliation)

2- I believe, all these accounts are "fake". But, I mean, someone has to be concerned about the number of followers because it means, you know, it translates into revenue !!

3- If you are concerned about earning revenues and boosting your business in an efficient way, there are free programs that enable publishers to earn revenue by placing relevant ads on a wide variety of their online content, including websites, site search results, and mobile webpages and apps. (ex. Google Adsense, Yahoo publisher ..)

Half of Google's revenue comes from selling text-based ads that are placed near search results and are related to the topic of the search.

4- At the end, normal people trust social media accounts that have limited number of followers, and trying to engage with them in normal conversation about their businesses would lead to more trust and confidence !!

5- These commercials have been on websites like 9GAG, theoatmeal, LOLsnaps as fun materials ... But they are real and spreading !!

How to grow garlic ? ♥

Did you know that one clove or bulb of garlic, when planted, can produce up to an additional twenty cloves? So instead of tossing out your garlic that's started to sprout, plant it instead!

Simply plant garlic cloves individually. If they've started to sprout, even better! Otherwise plant them with the pointy end up. Make sure they are in a sunny location and soil isn't too damp. You can plant multiple cloves four inches apart either in your yard or in a pot. It will fair well even if planted among other flowers or vegetables.

Then just sit back and wait for your garlic to grow. If it's potted, water it occasionally but don't drown it. As your garlic grows, it will sprout leaves. Once the leaves turn brown and die, it's time to harvest your garlic. (Don't harvest any earlier or your cloves will be too small!)

Once you harvest your garlic, hang the bulbs in a cool, dry location to dry them and prevent rot. Your garlic should dry in about a week, at which time you can simply brush off the dirt and start cooking with the cloves or plant some more!

The Spinning Silhouette Optical Illusion

This is a very bizarre dancer optical illusion.  At first glance the spinning lady appears to be circling in a clockwise motion.  But if you look at the spinning dancer long enough - the lady will appear to change direction and start spinning counter-clockwise.

For me the switch didn't just happen - I had to look at her shadow and picture it going counter-clockwise.  After about a minute, my brain flipped and the lady just started spinning backwards.  Actually - I can't seem to convince my brain to get her to start going clockwise again.  But it is pretty wild when you see the switch happen.

This spinning illusion has also been referred to as a Right Brain vs. The Left Brain challenge.

It's a tough one and it takes a lot of focus.

Hint for programmers:

The picture above is a normal GIF picture with 34 frames for a lady moving CLOCKWISE. (Animation Shop Pro)

The relativity of simultaneity

The relativity of simultaneity is the idea that whether two events occur simultaneously or not is relative and depends on the observer. It is a strange consequence of the special theory of relativity, and applies to any events that happen that are separated by some distance. For example, if a firework is let off on Mars and another on Venus, one observer traveling through space one way might say they happen at the same time (compensating for the time light takes to reach them), while another observer traveling another way might say the one on Mars went off first, and yet another might say the one on Venus went off first. It is caused by the way different viewpoints become distorted compared to each other in special relativity. And because they are all relative, no observer can be said to have the correct viewpoint.

This can lead to very unusual scenarios, such as an observer witnessing effect before cause (for example, seeing a bomb go off, then later seeing someone light the fuse). However, once the observer sees the effect, they cannot interact with the cause without traveling faster than the speed of light, which was one of the first reasons faster-than-light travel was believed to be forbidden, because it is akin to time travel, and a universe where you can interact with the cause after the effect makes no sense.

Never Get Rid of your Stuff !

This is what I did recently with some old electronic stuff (Old Black&White TV, Pentium III processor, other hardware/software applications ...). I tried to make them work together.

... using new technology. Details (video) to be released later !

Safety 1st

There is a difference between Hazards and Accidents, No one is pre-warned about an Accident. It is completely an unexpected event. A hazard is well know in advance. That is why you can REPORT HAZARDS (being at home or at your workplace) !

Future of Mobility

Ever since the company invented the first automobile in 1886, Mercedes-Benz has made a habit of pioneering new ideas that evolve into industry standards. In 1994, Mercedes-Benz presented the world's first drivable fuel cell vehicle. The experimental NECAR took the company one step closer to reaching the goal of “zero-emission mobility.”

How does fuel cell technology work?

The main purpose of the fuel cell system is to enable a highly-efficient chemical reaction, transforming fuel into power. In doing so, the only by-product generated is pure water. It’s one of the cleanest energy systems available. A fuel cell vehicle is powered by an electric motor. A fuel cell stack, made by stacking a series of fuel cells together, generates the electricity. It produces enough energy to propel the car, charge the battery and power the accessories like the lights and radio.

A high-voltage battery at the rear of the car allows for instant acceleration, as well as for the storage of energy captured during braking. Since there are fewer moving parts and no combustion engine, the car is quieter in operation. Given that the only derivative is water, the car has zero harmful emissions. Furthermore, if the hydrogen is made from renewable energy, such as solar or wind power, the entire process – from fuel creation to usage – is emission-free and sustainable.

Environmentally-conscious driving pleasure

Today, the Mercedes-Benz B-Class F-CELL is the first series-produced electric vehicle with fuel cell propulsion that is suitable for everyday use. With its spirited performance, range of up to 240 miles and water as its only by-product, this hydrogen electric vehicle brings to life the future. Emissions-free driving has never been so enjoyable.
